IVRI to Host BASiC–2026, a National Conclave on Biosciences for Viksit Bharat@2047

Bareilly: The ICAR–Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, in collaboration with Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA–Brij Province), is set to organize BASiC–2026 (Bharatiya Animal Science Conclave and Science Expo), a major national event aimed at advancing bioscience-driven solutions for the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

Sharing details of the upcoming conclave, Dr. S.K. Singh, Joint Director (Research), said the event will serve as a national platform bringing together scientific innovation, traditional knowledge, and modern technologies to promote sustainable development through animal and veterinary sciences. The theme of the conclave is “From Tradition to Technology: The Bioscience Pathway to Viksit Bharat@2047.”

The event seeks to integrate India’s rich indigenous knowledge systems with cutting-edge scientific advancements in animal and veterinary sciences. It also reflects the broader vision of making science more accessible and relevant to society through innovation and knowledge-sharing.

According to Organizing Secretary Dr. Raghavendra Singh, BASiC–2026 will bring together scientists, veterinarians, researchers, students, entrepreneurs, farmers, industry leaders, startups, NGOs, and policymakers on a common platform. The programme will feature scientific sessions, student-scientist interactions, and discussions designed to strengthen collaboration between laboratories, farms, industries, and policy institutions.

Another key attraction will be the Young Scientist Conclave (YSC), which will provide emerging researchers and innovators an opportunity to showcase their work through oral and poster presentations. The conclave will also encourage participation in frontier areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, nanotechnology, and other emerging technologies relevant to biosciences and livestock development.

The event will host scientific sessions on a range of contemporary themes, including animal health and welfare, One Health and biosecurity, food safety, precision therapeutics, sustainable livestock systems, climate-resilient animal production, indigenous knowledge systems, and AI-enabled precision livestock farming.

The chief guest for the programme will be Dr. Triveni Dutt, Vice-Chancellor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology.

Senior officials from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, leading universities, veterinary institutions, and scientific organizations across the country are expected to participate. The conclave is envisioned as a platform to strengthen collaboration between science, society, and industry while promoting people-centric innovations that contribute to India’s long-term development goals.

The organizers believe BASiC–2026 will play a significant role in fostering scientific partnerships, encouraging young talent, and accelerating innovation in the animal science sector, ultimately contributing to the nation’s journey towards becoming a developed economy by 2047.
